If you’ve been an e-smoker for a while, there’s a good chance that you’ve considered breaking up with your first e-cigarette more than once. It’s not that you don’t like it, or you wouldn’t have been tobacco-free for this long. It’s just that larger e-cigarettes offer so much more: longer-lasting batteries, easier refilling from a bottle, better vapor production and so on. Everyone considers upgrading eventually, and the Halo Triton is one of the e-cigarettes that hopes to grab your attention.
Halo Triton
Price: $49.95
Includes: Two 650 or 400 mAh batteries, two clear tanks, one atomizer cone, USB charger, wall charger and carrying case
If you’ve looked at pictures of e-cigarettes online, you’ve seen the larger eGo e-cigarette more than once. However, the Halo Triton is an eGo with a difference — it’s actually a vGo e-cigarette. Although it’s the same size as an eGo, it’s actually threaded for KR-808 tanks and cartomizers. This makes the Halo Triton compatible with Halo’s own cartomizers for those who are considering stepping up from the smaller Halo G6 e-cigarette.
For years, the most popular e-cigarette cartomizers were filled with wet gauze. The gauze was wrapped around an a heating coil, keeping it constantly wet. With this type of cartomizer, the vapor was reliable and plentiful from beginning to end. However, some people couldn’t get over the learning curve of filling their own cartomizers; doing this properly required a syringe to inject e-liquid into the gauze, and making a mistake during this process would result in dry, harsh vapor and possibly a ruined cartomizer.
Tank systems like the one used in the Halo Triton are now taking the world by storm; to fill it, you only need to twist off the mouthpiece and add e-liquid directly to the clear tank. This means that you can finally try any e-liquid that interests you — even if you’ve never gotten than hang of filling a standard cartomizer. The tank system also holds about double the e-liquid of a standard cartomizer.
Halo Triton Review
One of the things we’ve always loved about Halo is the company’s willingness to provide e-cigarettes in a variety of colors to suit anyone’s tastes. The Halo Triton is no exception; at the time of writing, it’s available in no less than 11 different colors from plain black to the beautiful iridescent blue color shown above. Although the batteries have a good, solid feel in the hand, they aren’t significantly heavier than the cigarette-shaped batteries you’ll probably be upgrading from.
As we mentioned earlier in this Halo Triton review, getting started with Halo’s new e-cigarette really couldn’t be easier. You simply need to open one of the clear tanks, pour in some e-liquid from a bottle or dropper, twist the tank onto a battery and go. The Halo Triton battery is button-activated and vaporizes the e-liquid as long as you hold the button down. Although most e-smokers can expect the two included batteries to last for at least a day of use, Halo also has larger capacity replacement batteries available for purchase.
The E-Liquid is the Key
If your introduction to e-smoking involved an e-cigarette shaped like a real cigarette, there’s a good chance that the e-liquid was made by one of the e-cigarette industry’s mega-suppliers in China. If that’s the case, you’re in for a pleasant surprise with the Halo Triton; Halo is one of the largest and most popular e-liquid manufacturers in the United States and they’ll expose you to a world of new flavors that will enhance the e-smoking experience like you’ve never imagined.
Tip: If you’re a tobacco lover and are wondering which Halo e-liquid to start with, look no further than Turkish Tobacco. Our panel was unanimous in its approval of this e-liquid that hits all the right notes; rich and savory with a slight hint of sweetness.
Halo has always had some of the most intriguing tobacco and menthol flavors on the market, and they’ve recently begun to expand their flavor lineup with some fun selections of the sweeter variety. At the time of writing, 22 different flavors are available — and Halo is just one of many e-liquid companies in the United States. Once you try USA-made, you’ll never go back.
Halo Triton: A Step Up
Eventually, many people who start with cigarette-shaped e-cigarettes decide that they’re willing to sacrifice a bit of convenience in exchange for improved battery life and better vapor production. If that sounds like you, the Halo Triton is a strong choice. Unlike many e-cigarettes in this price range, the kit comes with two batteries rather than one as well as both USB and wall chargers. The Halo Triton also comes with a 30 day money-back guarantee in case you don’t find it a worthy upgrade from your existing e-cigarette.
We also love the convenience and performance of the new Halo Triton tank system. Even if you’ve become accustomed to injecting cartomizers, it quickly becomes inconvenient because a standard cartomizer never lasts more than a couple of weeks at most. Refilling a Halo Triton tank takes seconds and the tanks are long-lasting. Replacements cost just $6.99 and are available in a wide variety of colors.
Our panel did notice one small negative aspect to the Halo Triton; Halo also has a variable-voltage battery that allows you to raise or lower the voltage of the e-cigarette by twisting the battery’s bottom cap. With the variable-voltage battery, the Halo Triton generates more vapor than any standard eGo e-cigarette. However, it’s only available separately for $29.99. We’d love to see an option that allows customers to purchase the Halo Triton kit with a single variable-voltage battery rather than two standard batteries at the same price. As it is, the Halo Triton is still a great buy for anyone ready to step up from their starter e-cigarette. With that small change, it would easily be the best e-cigarette deal on the market.
Halo Triton Review: The Last Word
The Good
- Simply the best e-liquid selection on the market
- Wide variety of colors available
- Refilling couldn’t be more convenient
The Not So Good
- Variable-voltage battery only available as a separate purchase

Thanks for your great review. I am pretty new to all & have just recently bought the halo triton starter kit & am very pleased.
You mentioned ‘Turkish Tobacco….can you tell me which company makes the one you were talking about?
I’d also like to try attaching cartomizers to the halo battery & am not sure where I should get these from. I’m an Aussie & will have to get them from overseas as the nicotine stuff that I need can’t be legally bought here.
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Steve Martin.
Hello Steve,
Turkish Tobacco is an e-liquid made by Halo. The threading of the Halo Triton battery is VGO, which means that it has KR-808 threading. This means that to use it with cartomizers, you’ll need to use ones that have KR-808 threading (rather than 510). Halo’s own G6 cartomizers have KR-808 threading.
