Dual-Coil Disposable Vapes Are the Next Big Thing: Here’s Why

by Apr 18, 2024Featured

If there’s one thing that every vaper would like to have, you can summarize it in one word: more. More vapor, more flavor, more choices, and let’s be honest – more of a nicotine rush. Even though most disposable vapes sold in the United States contain powerful nicotine salt e-liquid with strengths up to 50 mg/ml, there are still some people who feel like they’re not quite getting enough and still feel tempted to revert to smoking.

If that’s the case for you, the new dual-coil disposable vapes from companies like AMGRIN are going to be game changers for you on multiple levels – and you’re about to find out why.

A dual-coil disposable vape can be just the ticket if other disposables have left you feeling a bit underwhelmed in the satisfaction department. Even if you already feel completely satisfied with the device you’re currently using, you’ll want to try a dual-coil device anyway because you’re likely to experience a massive improvement in flavor quality.

Why is that? Let’s dig in and learn more.

What Is a Dual-Coil Disposable Vape?

When you disassemble a modern disposable vape with a capacity of thousands of puffs, you’ll typically find a small compartment on the inside of the device for holding the e-liquid. This YouTube video provides a good view of what a disposable vape’s internals look like. As you can see, the compartment secures the e-liquid and helps to prevent the device from leaking. A chimney extends into the compartment’s center hole, and a mesh coil is wrapped around the chimney to provide the heating that turns the e-liquid to vapor.

A dual-coil disposable vape looks basically the same on the inside, except that it has two coils instead of one – usually with one coil placed above the other.

How Dual Coil Disposable Vapes Work

How Does a Dual-Coil Disposable Vape Work?

A dual-coil disposable vape will often have two different vaping modes, and you can usually select the mode by moving a switch on the bottom of the device. In addition to the two modes, the switch may also have a third position that turns the device off.

The two modes on a dual-coil disposable vape work as follows.

  • In the first mode, only one of the two coils activates when you puff on the device. The device may alternate between the two coils on successive puffs, so that the top coil fires on the first puff, the bottom coil fires on the second puff, and so on. In this mode, the device will deliver the maximum number of puffs that it is capable of delivering.
  • In the second mode, both coils activate simultaneously when you puff on the device. This mode doubles the device’s vapor production, giving you bigger flavors and more vapor per puff. However, it also reduces the device’s total number of puffs by approximately half.

A Dual-Coil Disposable Vape Gives You More Satisfaction in Less Time

Disposable Vapes with Dual Coils

As we mentioned near the beginning of this article, the biggest reason why you might want to use a dual-coil disposable vape is because you’ll get twice the vapor per puff if you’re using the device in its dual-coil mode. That means you’ll get double the nicotine per puff, which is a good thing if your current device doesn’t quite leave you feeling satisfied.

It also means that you can get the same amount of vapor with a shorter puff compared to using a single-coil disposable vape, which you’ll like if you find yourself constantly hitting blinkers with your current device because you have to take longer puffs to get the cloud production you want.

Dual-Coil Disposables Are Still Great Even if You Don’t Need More Nicotine

The fact that a dual-coil disposable vape can produce enormous clouds is certainly fun, but it’s not going to be essential for a large portion of the vaping community because disposable vapes deliver so much nicotine already. The second feature, though, might be so transformative that you’ll wonder how you ever got by without it – and it’s the reason why most of the high-capacity disposable vapes on the market will probably have dual-coil configurations in the very near future. It has to do with coil gunk.

If you’ve been vaping for a while, you’re probably very aware of the fact that a large majority of today’s vape juices are very sweet because that’s what many people prefer. After all, just about everyone has at least a little bit of a sweet tooth.

The problem with sweetened e-liquid, though, is that the sweetener added to the vape juice – which is usually sucralose – burns and becomes sticky when it’s heated. Sweetened e-liquid causes a dark layer of residue to form on your device’s coil, and the residue eventually causes the coil to produce a burnt flavor.

No vaping devices or e-liquids are immune to coil gunk. Every sweetened e-liquid will eventually ruin a vape coil’s flavor. In the past, though, disposable vapes had much less vape juice than they do today. With an older disposable vape, the device would be out of e-liquid by the time coil gunk became a problem. With today’s devices delivering 5,000 puffs and even more, though, it’s a completely different story. Chances are that you’ve used some newer disposable vapes that tasted pretty bad by the time they were out of e-liquid.

If a dual-coil vape alternates between the two coils when operating in single-coil mode, it’s splitting the load between the two coils and is essentially cutting each coil’s work in half. Therefore, it’s cutting the formation of coil gunk in half as well. This design should allow high-capacity disposable vapes to last much longer before their flavor quality declines. That’s a great thing for everyone, and it’s the reason why you’re probably going to see this feature a lot in the very near future.

How Should You Use a Dual-Coil Disposable Vape?

When you try your first dual-coil disposable vape, there are two different strategies that you can use. You can vape in a way that maximizes the device’s vapor production, or you can maximize the total number of puffs that you get out of the device. Here are the two different ways of using a dual-coil vape.

  • If you feel like you’re not getting the nicotine delivery and cloud production you want, you can put your vape into the dual-coil mode and leave it there.
  • If you want a dual-coil vape to last as long as possible, you can use the alternating-coil mode most of the time and switch to the dual-coil mode only when you need a little extra satisfaction. You could use the dual-coil mode for the first few puffs, for instance, when you first pick your device up after not vaping for a while. Once you’re beginning to feel satisfied, you can switch the device back to the alternating-coil mode to conserve your e-liquid.
