The strengths of the basic two-part e-cigarette system are innumerable; they’re affordable, cartridges can be replaced rather than refilled and using one feels much the same as smoking an actual cigarette. Where these “cig-a-likes” tend to suffer, though, is in the fact that the mainstream brands almost always use refill liquids made in China. It’s not that the Chinese-made liquid is horrible — very little of it is outright bad — it’s simply that liquids made on a less massive scale often tend to have more interesting and enjoyable flavors. If you’re looking for a mini electronic cigarette and are willing to give a lesser-known brand a shot, Starfire Cigs may have what you’re looking for.

Starfire Cigs uses one of the smallest e-cigarette designs currently available, putting it in the same class as Blu. Like Blu, Starfire Cigs uses refill liquids made in the United States and formulated from a base of vegetable glycerin. Both companies also include portable charging cases with their e-cigarette starter kits. Where the similarities end, however, is in the fact that Blu’s starter kits cost about $20.00 more, while their refill cartridges cost about $2.00 more per five-pack.
Starfire Cigs offers two different tobacco flavors along with other popular options including menthol, vanilla, cherry, coffee, apple, watermelon and peach. There aren’t a lot of e-liquid companies offering good peach flavors currently, so our panel was particularly drawn to that flavor and enjoyed it greatly. We also preferred the Turkish Tobacco flavor slightly over the standard Tobacco; we think you’ll agree if your preferred cigarette has a touch of sweetness.
Starfire Cigs Review
Using the Starfire Cigs e-cigarette is as simple as smoking a tobacco cigarette; simply puff and inhale the vapor. We loved the sensitivity of the automatic battery, which lit up instantly in response to our puffs and required none of the short “primer puffs” necessary with less sensitive batteries.
With a battery this small, one of the primary benefits noted by our Starfire Cigs review panel was the fact that the included portable battery charging case — which holds two batteries and several refill cartridges — is scarcely larger than a real pack of cigarettes. Flipping open the top and taking a few puffs on the Starfire Cigs e-cigarette feels familiar, almost like smoking. The downside is that many e-cigarette companies such as V2 Cigs are now featuring larger batteries with their kits. These e-cigarettes are larger than real cigarettes, but they also feature more than double the battery life of Starfire Cigs.
On the other hand, Starfire Cigs makes up for a bit of this deficiency by including a portable battery charging case with its starter kit — an accessory that costs $50 from V2 Cigs. So, choosing between Starfire Cigs and V2 Cigs or a similar brand is a matter of priorities. Would you rather have an e-cigarette that’s small like a real cigarette, or would you rather have one that needs less frequent charging?
Good for Beginners
Typically, the first e-cigarette that you purchase won’t be the last. Eventually you’ll be compelled to try something larger or you’ll want to try experimenting with filling your own cartomizers or tanks. When you’re trying e-cigarettes for the first time, though, you want something that just works — something you don’t have to fill yourself, something with a backup charger in case you forget to leave home with the batteries fully charged — and most importantly, something that actually tastes good. Taking the low price into account, we believe Starfire Cigs is a winner in all of these areas and believe it should definitely be on your short list if you’re buying an e-cigarette for the first time.
Tip: If you smoke around one pack of cigarettes per day, we recommend against buying any e-cigarette with only one battery unless it’s a disposable e-cigarette and you aren’t ready to commit to e-smoking yet. No single e-cigarette battery will be enough to last through an entire day of e-smoking unless you are a light or social smoker.
Starfire Cigs: Value for Money
In today’s crowded marketplace, we can’t stress enough to e-cigarette companies that today’s new e-smokers have more options than ever and value for money gets a brand noticed. For under $50, Starfire Cigs provides an e-cigarette kit far more full-featured than most. The simple two-part design is perfect for beginners and although the small batteries may only provide the usage equivalent of about half a pack of cigarettes on a full charge, the portable battery charging case can keep you going for at least a day without access to a USB port or power outlet. Our favorite feature is Starfire’s USA-made refill liquids; in this price range, you’ll find almost nothing else that doesn’t use lower-quality Chinese e-liquids. We definitely approve.
